English Language Requirements:
If you want to apply in Norway in study program where the language of instruction is English you have to fulfil the English language criteria. You can do so by several English Language tests and Proficiency Letters.Every university and study program have different language requirement. Here we give you a general idea, you should always check with the university and program website where you want to apply.
- IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) academic.
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
With a minimum of 60 points IBT (Internet Based Test)
- CAMBRIDGE ESOL EXAMINATIONS
Certificate in Advance English
Certificate of Proficiency in English
Students with MA English, English Literature or Major in English Language are expected from English Language Requirements.
Norwegian Language Requirements:

If you want to apply in study course which is taught in Norwegian you have to meet the Norwegian Language Requirements. Norwegian institutes accept following certificates.
- Norwegian (393 hours, third year level) from Norwegian Upper Secondary School, Norwegian Exams or Norwegian as a second Language exams.
- Test in Norwegian – Advanced level, Written test. (Test inorsk – høyerenivå, skriftlig) with a minimum score of “pass” (bestått)
- Norwegian for International Students, Level 3: examination for international students at Norwegian universities (Trinn 3)
- A minimum of 60 Norwegian university credits/ECTS in Norwegian language and social science for international students.
- Norwegian Language test for adult immigrants with the result B2 in all the 4 disciplines.
- If you are required to complete a year of higher education in order to qualify for admission, there is only one way for you to meet the Norwegian language requirement:
- Norwegian (393 hrs, third-year level) from Norwegian upper secondary school: Norwegian (exam) or Norwegian as a second language (exam).
They teach you 1st year Norwegian at university and then student may continue to regular study programs.
DEADLINES TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION:
Deadline for application submission can be varied from one university to other, it is suggested that student should check the particular university’s website for deadlines.Most Universities in Norway have the ‘preliminary application system’ which opens the online application form on October-November.
On this stage, university doesn’t demand any documentation. International students only have to fill the online application form.
They evaluate your basic information.
If you are accepted the Norwegian institute sends you the normal application form with deadlines from December 01 to March 15 for autumn semester. (There is only one intake for foreign students who want to apply for Norway).
It is highly recommended to check university’s website for deadline because some universities have totally separate deadlines and admission procedure.
PART TIME JOB DURING YOUR STUDIES IN NORWAY?
Like most countries in the world international students in Norway are permitted to work as part time.Study residence permit is granted to all foreign students including Bangladeshi students which allowed them to work for up to 20 hours per week during study sessions.
During semester breaks students are allowed full time work. Wages in Norway is very high. In fact Norway is the number 4th on highest per capita income.
Students may earn average 120 NOK* per hour by doing student job in restaurant or newspaper distribution company.
It helps students to cover their residence expenditure.
